Streamlining Environmental Review for Federal Projects

This act aims to accelerate and simplify the environmental impact assessment process for projects undertaken by federal agencies. Citizens may experience faster project implementation, but also changes in how potential environmental impacts are evaluated.

Limiting the number of required environmental documents to one per project.
Allowing the use of existing environmental assessments or those prepared by third-party companies, potentially speeding up the process.
Introducing time limits for processing applications and requiring agencies to report on the costs and duration of environmental reviews.
Federal agencies will not be required to consider project alternatives that are technically or economically unfeasible for the project sponsor.
