Hearing Coverage: Mandatory Insurance for Implants and Devices

This act, known as "Ally’s Act," aims to ensure that private health insurance plans are required to cover the costs of hearing devices, such as implants and sound processors, as well as related services. This means that starting January 1, 2022, individuals needing such devices and care will have easier access to essential treatment, potentially significantly reducing their financial burden.
Key points
Mandatory coverage of auditory implant devices and external sound processors by private health insurance plans.
Coverage includes maintenance, repairs, upgrades every 5 years, as well as assessments, surgery, and aural rehabilitation.
Cost-sharing limits are introduced for patients to ensure treatment affordability.
Changes apply to plan years beginning on or after January 1, 2022.
