New Sunscreen Labels: Reef Safe and Ocean Safe Standards

This act aims to introduce new labeling standards for sunscreens to inform consumers which products are safe for marine environments. This means that in the future, sunscreen packaging will feature special labels, helping consumers choose products less harmful to coral reefs and oceans. As a result, citizens will be able to consciously select products that support marine environmental protection.
Key points
Introduction of "Reef Safe" and "Ocean Safe" labels for sunscreens.
Labeling standards will consider the impact of ingredients on marine life, such as fish, coral, and seagrasses.
Regulations will be regularly reviewed and updated at least every 10 years to incorporate new scientific research.
States can establish their own, more restrictive labeling requirements.
