Fee Relief for Families of Fallen First Responders and Injured Officers

New rules allow immediate relatives of deceased or injured firefighters and law enforcement officers, as well as injured officers themselves, to apply for naturalization or immigration status without paying standard fees. This aims to support families affected by sacrifices made in the line of duty.
Key points
Immediate relatives of firefighters and law enforcement officers who died or were permanently injured in the line of duty may be exempt from naturalization and certain immigration petition fees.
Firefighters and law enforcement officers who were permanently injured in the line of duty may also be exempt from these fees.
The exemption covers application fees and associated biometrics fees.
