Easier Transfer of GI Bill Education Benefits After Eligible Individual's Death.

This act ensures that Post-9/11 GI Bill education benefits can still be used by family members even if the eligible individual dies after transfer approval but before all benefits are transferred. This provides greater financial security for military families in the event of an unexpected death.
Key points
GI Bill education benefits can be transferred to dependents even if the eligible individual dies after transfer approval.
If death occurs before full transfer, remaining benefits will be evenly distributed among designated transferees.
Changes apply to individuals who died on or after November 1, 2018, providing retroactive support.
