More Local News on Cable TV

This act aims to ensure that more local low-power television stations broadcasting news are available on cable TV. This will provide residents in areas lacking local information with better access to news from their community, helping them make informed decisions about their local area.
Key points
Low-power television stations sharing facilities with certain full-power stations and broadcasting local news will be required to be carried on cable systems.
To qualify, a station must broadcast at least 14 hours of common local programming per week, including 7 hours between 6 PM and midnight, and maintain a local studio.
These stations will need to regularly disclose their local programming, and this information will be made public, increasing transparency.
