Erie Canal Commemorative Coins: New collectible coins for citizens.

This act introduces new commemorative coins to mark the 200th anniversary of the Erie Canal. Citizens will have the opportunity to purchase these coins, with a portion of the sales revenue supporting Erie Canal-related activities, such as its preservation and tourism promotion. This offers a chance to own a piece of history and support local initiatives.
Key points
Three types of coins will be available: $5 gold, $1 silver, and half-dollar clad coins.
Coins will be sold with a surcharge, which will fund the Erie Canalway Heritage Fund for preservation, recreation, and educational programs.
Coin sales will begin on January 1, 2025, and last for one year.
The minting and issuance of these coins will not result in any net cost to the U.S. Government.
