More Flexibility for State, Local, and Tribal Relief Funds

This act allows states, local governments, and tribal entities to use COVID-19 relief funds for infrastructure projects like roads and public transport. This increases flexibility in public spending and can accelerate important investments. Additionally, funds can now be used for natural disaster relief.
Key points
Governments can now use COVID-19 relief funds for building and repairing roads, bridges, public transportation systems, and other infrastructure projects.
A spending limit for infrastructure projects is set at the greater of $10 million or 30% of the received payment.
Funds can also be used for emergency relief from natural disasters, including temporary housing and food assistance.
Tribal governments are given more time to use their Coronavirus Relief Fund payments, providing greater flexibility in their spending plans.
Declined or unused relief funds will be rescinded and used for deficit reduction.
