More Notice for Property Owners on Flood Map Changes

New rules require property owners to receive mail notifications about planned and completed changes to flood hazard maps. These notices will include information about potential flood insurance requirements, approximate costs, and how to appeal the new maps.
Key points
You will receive a mail notice at least 15 days before work begins on new flood maps for your area.
After the maps are completed but before the appeal period starts, you'll get another notice stating if your property is in a high-risk flood zone, the approximate cost of flood insurance, and how to appeal.
After the appeal period ends, you'll receive a final notice confirming the process is complete and informing you of further options if your property is in a high-risk zone.
Notices will be sent directly to property owners, not through state or local governments.
