Enhanced Campus Safety and Accessibility for Individuals with Disabilities

This act aims to improve campus safety and information accessibility for individuals with disabilities at universities. It ensures that security reports, emergency procedures, and prevention programs are available in accessible formats, and that staff are trained to work with people with various disabilities. This will allow students and staff with disabilities to participate more fully in campus life and feel safer.
Key points
All campus security reports and crime information must be provided free of charge, in a timely manner, and in accessible formats for individuals with disabilities (e.g., blind, deaf, cognitive disabilities).
Emergency response and evacuation procedures must consider the needs of students and staff with disabilities.
Prevention programs and informational materials on safety must be accessible and inclusive of the needs of individuals with disabilities, including those related to abusive behavior and attacks targeting them.
Campus security personnel and other individuals providing information or resources must receive training on working with individuals with disabilities.
Individuals with disabilities involved in disciplinary proceedings (as accuser or accused) are entitled to an interpreter, transliterator, or other communication assistance, and to the same accommodations related to their disabilities.
