DC Government Title Equality Act: Mayor to Governor, Council to Legislative Assembly
This legal act renames key offices in the District of Columbia. The Mayor of the District of Columbia will now be called the Governor, and the Council of the District of Columbia will become the Legislative Assembly. These changes do not affect the daily operations of the government or the rights and responsibilities of residents, but merely standardize the nomenclature with other states.
Key points
The Office of the Mayor of the District of Columbia is renamed the Office of the Governor of the District of Columbia.
The Council of the District of Columbia is renamed the Legislative Assembly of the District of Columbia.
