Protecting Health Data During Pandemics: Your Privacy and Rights.

This act aims to protect your health data related to the COVID-19 pandemic. It defines who and how can collect, use, and disclose this data, giving you more control over it. The act also introduces penalties for misuse of this information and safeguards your right to vote.
Key points
Your COVID-19 related health data (e.g., test results, location) can only be collected, used, and disclosed with your explicit consent, unless necessary to protect against fraud or security threats.
You have the right to revoke consent for data processing, and companies must then delete it within 30 days.
Companies cannot use your health data for advertising, sales, employment, insurance, or housing in a discriminatory manner.
Organizations collecting data from at least 100,000 individuals must regularly publish reports on what data they collect and to whom they disclose it.
Your health data must be destroyed or made unlinkable to you after the public health emergency ends.
The act prohibits the use of health data to restrict your right to vote.
The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) will enforce these rules, and you can file a complaint if your rights are violated. You can also sue a company for violations.
