American Energy Independence from Russia Act

This act aims to boost domestic production of crude oil, petroleum products, and natural gas in the U.S. The goal is to reduce the country's reliance on energy imports, especially from Russia, potentially impacting fuel price stability and energy security for citizens.
Key points
The President must submit a biennial energy security plan, evaluating energy imports/exports and strategies for increasing domestic production.
The act authorizes the construction and operation of the Keystone XL pipeline, potentially increasing oil imports from Canada.
It prohibits moratoria on new oil, gas, coal, and critical mineral leases on federal lands without Congressional approval.
It mandates the immediate resumption and annual conduct of onshore and offshore oil and gas lease sales, including in the Gulf of Mexico and Alaska.
Before the first drawdown from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve, the Secretary of Energy must develop a plan to increase oil and gas leasing on federal lands.
