Easier Copyright Registration for Talented Student Artists

New rules make it easier for young artists who win specific competitions to register copyrights for their works. They no longer have to pay application fees, which supports their development and protects their creations. This means lower costs and a simpler path to securing their artistic works.
Key points
High school students winning art competitions sponsored by the Congressional Institute can register copyrights for their works for free.
Fee waivers also apply to winners of the competition described in H. Res. 77.
Applications must be filed by the end of the calendar year following the winning year to qualify for the fee waiver.
