No Pay Until Peace Act: Congress Members' Pay Reduced for Mass Shootings

This act aims to reduce the pay of Members of Congress if a mass shooting occurs in the United States during a given month. This is intended to pressure legislative action to prevent such events. For citizens, it means their representatives' salaries in Congress could be directly linked to public safety.
Key points
If a mass shooting (4 or more firearm fatalities) occurs in a given month, each Member of Congress's annual pay will be reduced by one month's worth of pay for each such month.
These provisions will take effect after the federal elections in November 2022.
For the 117th Congress (until November 2022), salaries will be temporarily held in an escrow account after a mass shooting and released at the end of the term to comply with constitutional rules.
The goal is to incentivize Congress to take action to prevent mass shootings.
