Steven's Law: More Medical Information for Reproductive Tissue Recipients

New regulations aim to increase access to medical information about reproductive tissue donors. Reproductive tissue banks will be required to collect and provide detailed donor medical data, allowing recipients and donor-conceived individuals to better understand potential health risks. This is intended to enhance the safety and awareness of those using assisted reproductive procedures.
Key points
Reproductive tissue banks must collect and verify comprehensive medical history from donors, including genetic and mental health conditions.
This information will be available upon request to tissue recipients, their physicians, and donor-conceived individuals aged 18 or with parental consent.
Donors will be required to disclose all diagnosed sexually transmitted diseases, medical conditions, and information about medical professionals who treated them in the past 5 years.
Reproductive tissue banks must remove identifying donor information (unless the donor is known to the recipient) and provide a summary and full medical records free of charge.
