Veteran Support: Enhancing Prosthetics and Orthotics Education

This act aims to improve access to high-quality prosthetic and orthotic care for veterans and civilians. It provides grants to universities for establishing or expanding master's degree programs in this field, and for creating a Center of Excellence in Orthotic and Prosthetic Education. This will lead to more specialists being able to assist individuals with mobility impairments.
Key points
Universities can receive between $1 million and $1.5 million to develop master's programs in orthotics and prosthetics, increasing student capacity.
Veterans with limb loss or mobility impairment will receive priority for admission and financial aid in these programs.
A Center of Excellence will be established to research the best training methods for orthotics and prosthetics professionals, leading to better patient care.
