No Cost Monkeypox Testing: New Rules for Access to Tests.

This act ensures free access to monkeypox testing for individuals covered by various health insurance plans, including private plans, Medicare, Medicaid, CHIP, Tricare, veterans' coverage, and federal civilian coverage. This means citizens will not incur costs or co-payments for tests and related medical visits until the end of 2023. Additionally, a program for uninsured individuals will provide them with access to free testing.
Key points
No Cost for Monkeypox Tests: Health insurance plans, including private, Medicare, Medicaid, and CHIP, must cover testing costs without additional fees (such as deductibles or co-payments).
Medical Visits Related to Testing: Doctor's office visits, urgent care, or emergency room visits that result in an order for or administration of a monkeypox test will also be free of charge.
Access for the Uninsured: A program will be established to allow uninsured individuals to receive monkeypox tests without incurring costs.
Effective Period: Free tests and related services will be available until December 31, 2023.
