Restricting Gun Access for High-Risk Individuals

This act introduces new rules for selling and possessing firearms. It aims to prevent individuals with a history of violent crimes, drug or alcohol-related offenses, or stalking convictions from accessing guns. These changes could affect who can legally buy or own a firearm, potentially enhancing public safety.
Key points
Individuals convicted of violent crimes within the last 10 years will be prohibited from buying or possessing firearms.
Persons under 25 who committed an offense that would be a violent crime if committed by an adult will also lose gun rights.
The ban extends to individuals with two convictions within 3 years for offenses involving alcohol or controlled substance possession/distribution.
Those convicted of stalking will be unable to acquire or possess firearms.
