Customs and Border Protection Crisis Hardship and Incentive Pay Act of 2022

This bill establishes a special pay incentive for U.S. Customs and Border Protection and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers working in designated border sectors. Eligibility is based on the volume of alien encounters, threats from armed cartels, or the presence of fentanyl in the area.
Key points
Officers will receive special pay for duty in areas with high numbers of alien encounters (over 1,000 per day average over a month or 250 per day in a sector).
Incentive pay also applies to duty in areas with threats from armed cartels or where fentanyl is encountered.
The maximum special pay is $250 per pay period and can continue for up to three months during hospitalization due to service-related injuries.
