Student Mental Health Support: Crisis Numbers on ID Cards

New rules aim to improve student access to mental health support during crises. Colleges will be required to include phone numbers for mental health organizations on student ID cards or on their websites. This is intended to help students quickly find support in difficult times.
Key points
Colleges issuing student ID cards must include contact information for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, Crisis Text Line, and a campus mental health center.
Colleges that do not issue ID cards must publish this same contact information on their website.
These changes will take effect one year after the law is enacted, allowing institutions time to comply.
