Schools Without In-Person Classes to Lose Federal Funds

This bill aims to stop federal funding for schools that do not resume in-person instruction by April 30, 2021. Schools failing to meet this requirement will have to return received funds, which may then be used to support school choice options for students. The act encourages schools to return to physical classrooms.
Key points
Schools not offering in-person instruction (full-time or hybrid) by April 30, 2021, will lose federal education funds and COVID-19 relief.
Forfeited or returned funds may be provided to states to offer school choice options for students whose schools do not reopen.
The bill does not affect the federal school lunch program, which will continue to operate as usual.
