Minor League Baseball Relief: Grants for Shuttered Clubs

This act establishes a grant program for minor league and independent professional baseball clubs financially impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The goal is to support their ongoing operations, helping them survive and resume games, which affects local communities and jobs.
Key points
Minor League Baseball Clubs and Independent Professional Baseball Clubs are eligible for grants if their 2020 revenues were less than 25% of their 2019 revenues.
Grant funds can be used for payroll, rent, utilities, mortgage payments, worker protection, and other ordinary business expenses.
The maximum grant amount is $10 million per club, and funds must be spent by the end of 2021 (or September 2022 for supplemental grants).
These grants will not be included in the gross income of the receiving entity for tax purposes.
