Tax Credits for Selling and Blending Ethanol Fuels

New rules introduce tax credits for businesses that sell or blend fuels containing ethanol, like E15. This aims to encourage the use of lower-carbon fuels. For citizens, this could mean greater availability and potentially lower prices for ethanol-blended fuels at gas stations.
Key points
Businesses blending E15 fuel (up to 15% ethanol) will receive a 5-cent per gallon credit.
Businesses blending fuel with over 15% ethanol will receive a 10-cent per gallon credit.
Retailers of fuels can also benefit from these credits if the blending company has not claimed them.
Small gas stations (up to 5 locations) may receive a refundable tax credit.
Changes apply to fuel blended or sold after December 31, 2021.
