Cybersecurity Education Support: New Programs for Students

This act establishes a grant program for higher education institutions to expand cybersecurity education. The goal is to increase the number of skilled cybersecurity professionals, which can enhance national digital security and create new career opportunities for students, especially those from underserved communities.
Key points
Higher education institutions, including those with a high enrollment of needy students, Historically Black Colleges and Universities, and minority-serving institutions, will receive funds to establish or expand cybersecurity programs.
Grants will help institutions build better programs, including hands-on research and training for students, and foster partnerships with public and private entities.
At least 50% of the available funds will be reserved for Historically Black Colleges and Universities and minority-serving institutions, aiming to increase diversity in the cybersecurity sector.
The grant program will operate for five years, with regular reports to Congress on its progress and outcomes to assess its effectiveness.
