Protecting Federal Forests from Tree Spiking: New Safety Measures

This act aims to protect federal forests from dangerous devices embedded in trees, which can endanger forest workers and equipment. It mandates the detection and removal of such devices, and updates safety guidelines and training for those working in forests. This will enhance the safety of individuals involved in forest management on federal lands.
Key points
Federal authorities will actively search for and remove dangerous objects embedded in trees on federal forest lands.
Priority will be given to areas where such objects have been previously found or are suspected to be present.
Safety guidelines and training programs for forest workers will be updated to better address this threat.
10 million dollars have been authorized for these activities until 2026.
