This act aims to reduce the cost of insulin and epinephrine for lower-income individuals. Health centers participating in the drug discount program will be required to offer these medications at or below the discounted price, plus a minimal administration fee, for patients meeting income and insurance criteria. This means people with diabetes or severe allergies could pay less for essential medications.
Key points
Lower prices for insulin and epinephrine for individuals with incomes up to 350% of the federal poverty line.
Assistance for patients with high out-of-pocket costs, high unmet deductibles, or no health insurance.
Health centers in the drug discount program will be mandated to offer these drugs at reduced prices.
