Easier Contract Termination for Servicemembers During Stop Movement Orders

New rules allow servicemembers to end phone, TV, and internet contracts early if they receive a stop movement order due to an emergency. This helps them avoid paying for services they cannot use. These changes apply to orders issued since March 1, 2020.
Key points
Servicemembers can terminate telecom contracts if a stop movement order prevents them from using the services.
This applies when a stop movement order is issued due to a local, national, or global emergency for at least 30 days or indefinitely.
The provisions are retroactive, covering stop movement orders issued on or after March 1, 2020.
