Reese's Law: Safer Button Batteries for Children

This new law aims to protect children from accidentally swallowing button cell or coin batteries. It mandates child-resistant battery compartments in products and clear warning labels on packaging and in manuals. This will give parents and caregivers greater confidence in the safety of products used in their homes.
Key points
Products with button cell batteries must have secure compartments to prevent access by children aged 6 and under.
Battery and product packaging, as well as manuals, must include clear warnings about ingestion hazards and first aid instructions.
Button cell batteries sold separately or with products must be in child-resistant packaging.
