Easier Degree Attainment and Student Support

This act aims to help students who have earned enough credits but did not receive a degree to obtain it. It also supports those close to graduation and facilitates transfers between two-year and four-year institutions. This will allow more individuals to formally recognize their educational achievements, potentially opening new career opportunities.
Key points
Colleges will actively identify and award degrees to individuals who met requirements but did not receive their diploma.
Students within 12 credits of earning an associate degree will receive outreach and information on next steps.
Transfers between two-year and four-year institutions will be streamlined, improving educational pathways.
Prohibition of additional fees for students participating in the program.
Institutions may waive certain non-academic barriers (e.g., graduation fees, swimming tests) that hinder degree completion.
