Support for ALS Veterans' Spouses: New Benefit Rules

This act makes it easier for surviving spouses of veterans who died from Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) to receive increased benefits. The duration of the veteran's illness before death no longer matters, simplifying the process for families to get financial aid.
Key points
Surviving spouses of veterans who died from ALS will receive increased benefits, regardless of how long the veteran had the disease.
These changes apply to veterans who died from ALS on or after October 1, 2021.
The act aims to provide justice and financial support to families of veterans affected by ALS.
