Ending Legacy and Donor Preferences in College Admissions

This bill aims to make college admissions fairer. It prohibits colleges receiving federal student aid from giving preferential treatment to applicants based on their parents being alumni or donors. This change is intended to increase opportunities for all students to attend their desired colleges, regardless of family connections or financial contributions.
Key points
Colleges cannot give preferential treatment to applicants whose parents are donors to the institution.
Colleges cannot give preferential treatment to applicants whose parents are alumni, unless it benefits historically underrepresented students.
The changes will take effect starting from the second award year after the bill becomes law.
