Hereditary Cancer Genetic Testing and Prevention: New Insurance Coverage

This act aims to expand health insurance coverage to include genetic testing for individuals with a family history of hereditary cancer. It also provides coverage for risk-reducing surgeries and more frequent screenings for those with genetic mutations. This will give citizens at higher risk of hereditary cancer better access to early diagnosis and prevention.
Key points
Insurance will cover genetic testing for individuals with a family history of hereditary cancer or a suspicious personal/family history.
Costs of risk-reducing surgeries for cancer will be covered for individuals with high genetic risk.
Individuals with cancer-risk-increasing genetic mutations will have access to more frequent screenings, such as mammography, breast MRI, and colonoscopy.
