Affordable Insulin Act: Lower Costs for Patients

This act aims to reduce insulin costs for individuals covered by Medicare Part D and private health plans. It will lower out-of-pocket expenses for insulin, making essential treatment more accessible and easing the financial burden of diabetes.
Key points
Medicare Part D users will have a maximum monthly insulin cost of $35 starting October 1, 2022.
Private health plans, from January 1, 2023, cannot apply deductibles or charge more than $35 per month for insulin, or 25% of the negotiated price if lower.
Insulin cost-sharing payments will count towards annual deductibles and out-of-pocket maximums.
