Tax Credit for Zero-Emission Buses: Supporting Green Transport

This act introduces a tax credit for manufacturers of zero-emission buses sold in the U.S. The goal is to encourage the production and purchase of more environmentally friendly public transport vehicles, potentially improving air quality in cities.
Key points
Manufacturers of zero-emission buses can receive a tax credit equal to 10% of the sale price.
The credit applies to buses weighing at least 14,000 pounds, powered solely by an electric motor (from a battery or fuel cell), designed to carry 15 or more passengers.
The maximum bus price eligible for the credit is $1,000,000.
The credit is not allowed if the manufacturer knows the bus will not be used primarily in the U.S.
The provisions for this credit are in effect until the end of 2026.
