Ending Speculative Oil and Gas Leasing on Public Lands
This act aims to stop the leasing of federal lands for oil and gas extraction when there's little to no potential for finding these resources. This will prevent taxpayer money from being wasted on managing such leases and allow these lands to be better used for recreation, conservation, or other purposes. Citizens will have more say in decisions regarding these lands through mandatory public consultations.
Key points
Prohibits leasing federal lands for oil and gas if there's low or no potential for resources, saving taxpayer money.
Enhances protection of public and National Forest System lands for recreation, wildlife, and other uses.
