Mandatory In-Person School Reopening: New Funding Rules

This act aims to accelerate the return to in-person learning in schools. Schools that do not fully reopen for in-person instruction may lose a portion of their federal funding. Citizens can expect their children to return to full-time in-person schooling, unless there is a significant rise in COVID-19 cases.
Key points
Schools must submit a plan to provide full-day, in-person learning 5 days a week for all medically able students.
New federal funds will be withheld from schools until they obligate previously appropriated funds and implement their in-person learning plan.
Schools failing to implement their plan within 14 days of approval will be required to return a percentage of received funds.
In case of a significant rise in COVID-19 cases, schools may temporarily revert to virtual learning, but must specify a return date to in-person learning.
