New Foster Care Rules: Increased Transparency and Oversight for Child Placements.

This act introduces new rules for placing children in foster care. Parents, relatives, and guardians will be informed more quickly about placement decisions and will gain the ability to request explanations and judicial review of these decisions. This aims to increase transparency and provide greater oversight over the process of placing children outside their family home.
Key points
Within 90 days of a child's foster care placement decision, parents, relatives, and guardians will receive notice with reasons.
These individuals can request written documentation of the decision's reasons within 5 days of receiving notice.
The child's attorney can petition the court to review the decision, and the court must begin this review within 7 days.
