Transparency of Recovered Foreign Corruption Funds

This new law requires the U.S. government to publicly disclose assets recovered from corrupt foreign governments. This allows citizens to track how much money has been recovered and its origin, increasing government transparency in fighting global corruption.
Key points
The Department of Justice must publish information on its website about property forfeited from corrupt foreign governments.
This information will include the name of the country from which the stolen assets originated and the total amount recovered.
Data will be updated at least every 14 days, unless it compromises an ongoing investigation.
Congress believes that recovered assets should be returned for the benefit of people harmed by corruption, in a transparent and effective manner.
