Student Veteran Protection: Restoring GI Bill Benefits After School Misconduct

This law protects veterans using educational benefits (GI Bill) from financial loss if their school commits fraud or violates enrollment rules. If an educational institution is found guilty of misconduct, veterans will have their used educational entitlement restored, allowing them to pursue education elsewhere. Furthermore, violating schools must repay the VA all funds received, and failure to repay results in immediate course disapproval.
Key points
Veterans who were unable to continue their education due to school violations will have their full educational benefits entitlement (GI Bill) restored.
Schools found guilty of fraud or improper enrollment practices must repay the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) all funds received.
Educational institutions that fail to repay the funds will have their courses disapproved for veterans until the debt is settled.
The expiration date for certain VA home loan fees has been extended to November 29, 2031.
