Border Family Detention Rules: New Standards for Children and Parents.

This act changes the rules for detaining children and their parents who cross the border. It aims to standardize family detention, even if a parent is charged with a minor offense. Importantly, states will not be able to require licenses for family detention facilities.
Key points
Family Detention: Children who are not unaccompanied can be detained with their parents, even if the parent is charged with a minor border offense.
No State Licensing Required: States cannot demand special licenses for facilities holding families with children at the border.
No Presumption Against Detention: There is no presumption that a child who is not unaccompanied should not be detained.
