More Free School Meals: Ending Reduced-Price Meals.

This bill aims to provide more children with free breakfasts and lunches in schools. It eliminates the reduced-price meal program, meaning children who previously paid less will now receive meals for free. The income threshold for free meals is also increased, and it simplifies the qualification process for children receiving Medicaid benefits.
Key points
No more reduced-price meals: All children who previously paid a reduced price will now receive meals for free.
More children qualify for free meals: The income threshold for free meals increases from 130% to 200% of the federal poverty level.
Easier qualification for Medicaid children: Children on Medicaid whose family income is at or below 200% of the poverty line will automatically qualify for free meals.
Schools can get retroactive meal reimbursements: Schools can revise past meal claims to get reimbursed for meals served to children who are later approved for free meals, starting from the first day of the school year.
More schools can offer free meals to all students: The multiplier used for the Community Eligibility Program is increased, making it easier for more schools to offer free meals to all students regardless of individual income.
