Employer Child and Elder Care: Overtime Calculation Exclusions

This act aims to make it easier for employers to support employees with child and elder care. The changes mean that payments or reimbursements for care services, as well as the value of care services provided by an employer, will not be included when calculating overtime pay. This allows employers to offer such support without incurring additional overtime costs, potentially increasing the availability of family assistance.
Key points
Payments or reimbursements for child and dependent care services will be excluded from overtime pay calculations.
The value of child or dependent care services provided by an employer will also not affect overtime calculations.
These changes aim to encourage employers to offer more care support, potentially helping employees balance work and family life.
