Fair Drug Prices: Lower Costs for Patients

This bill aims to reduce medication costs for patients. It sets limits on patient cost-sharing for drugs that receive high rebates from manufacturers, meaning patients will pay less for these specific medications. These changes are set to take effect from January 1, 2025.
Key points
Cost-sharing limits for highly rebated drugs: Insurers and pharmacy benefit managers cannot charge excessive amounts for drugs with significant manufacturer rebates.
Lower out-of-pocket costs: If a drug has high manufacturer rebates, your 30-day supply cost-sharing will be capped based on the annual net price of the drug.
Rebate transparency: Manufacturer rebates must be reflected at the point of sale if a highly rebated drug was previously excluded from coverage and is now covered.
