Family Support: Extended WIC Benefits for Children and Mothers

This bill aims to expand the WIC nutrition program, allowing more children and mothers to receive benefits for a longer period. These changes could mean better access to healthy food and nutritional support for families with young children, impacting their daily finances and health.
Key points
Children will be eligible for WIC benefits until their sixth birthday or until they start full-day kindergarten, instead of their fifth birthday.
Breastfeeding mothers will be able to receive WIC benefits for up to two years postpartum, instead of one year.
Postpartum mothers who are not breastfeeding will be eligible for WIC support for up to two years after pregnancy termination, instead of six months.
Infants can be certified for the WIC program for a period of up to two years, simplifying the process for parents.
