Strengthening Domestic Requirements for US Defense Programs

This law gradually increases the minimum required percentage of US-made components in major military equipment procurements, raising the threshold from over 60% to 75% by 2029. The Department of Defense is also required to establish an information repository to analyze domestic content in products deemed critical.
Key points
The minimum domestic content requirement for major defense procurements will gradually increase from over 60% to 75% by January 2029.
These requirements do not apply to manufactured articles consisting wholly or predominantly of iron or steel.
The Department of Defense must establish a system to track and analyze the domestic origin of critical components used in defense programs.
Temporary fallback rules (until 2030) are introduced, allowing a lower threshold (55%) if meeting the higher requirement results in unreasonable costs or no domestic offers.
