Safe Interactions: Police Training for Individuals with Disabilities and Seniors.
This act aims to improve safety and understanding in interactions between law enforcement officers and individuals with disabilities and older adults. Through new training programs, officers will be better equipped to recognize the needs of these groups, which is intended to reduce the risk of misunderstandings and violence, and increase access to community support.

Mandatory Training: New officers will undergo at least 8 hours of training, including 4 hours of interactive learning taught by individuals with disabilities. Existing officers will receive 4-hour refresher training annually.
Community Support: Officers will learn about available community resources for covered individuals, aiming to limit unnecessary law enforcement interactions.
