Safer Flights: New Rules for Flight Recorders and Crash Location.

New regulations aim to enhance commercial flight safety by improving flight data and cockpit voice recording systems. This will enable faster location of aircraft and survivors in case of an accident, and provide investigators with crucial data without lengthy underwater searches, accelerating accident cause determination and prevention of future incidents.
Key points
Requirement for a second flight recorder system that allows data recovery without underwater search.
Mandatory installation of a system to broadcast aircraft termination location within 6 nautical miles.
Extension of cockpit voice recorder recording duration to at least 25 hours for more comprehensive data.
New rules apply to aircraft ordered after January 1, 2027, used in extended overwater or remote operations.
