Support for ALS Veterans' Families and Housing Loan Fee Adjustments.

This act expands financial support for surviving spouses of veterans who died from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), regardless of the disease's duration. It also mandates a report on other veteran medical conditions and adjusts the expiration date for certain veteran housing loan fees. The goal is to provide greater financial stability for families affected by ALS and potentially other conditions.
Key points
Surviving spouses of veterans who died from ALS will receive increased benefits, regardless of how long the veteran had the disease.
A continuous marriage of eight years or longer is required for surviving spouses to qualify for ALS-related benefits.
The Department of Veterans Affairs must report on other service-connected disabilities that should receive similar treatment to ALS for benefits.
The expiration date for certain veteran housing loan fees is extended to December 2, 2031.
