Veterans Support: Expanding Aid for Historically Underserved Groups

This act expands the scope of the Center and Advisory Committee on Minority Veterans to include support for historically underserved veterans. The goal is to ensure all veterans, regardless of their background or identity, receive their entitled benefits and services, improving their access to healthcare, homelessness prevention, and other key programs.
Key points
Expanding the definition of veterans covered to include historically underserved individuals, such as LGBTQ+ veterans, those with language difficulties, or non-citizen veterans.
Strengthening the Advisory Committee's role to advise on improving representation, expanding benefits (including healthcare and suicide prevention), and gathering feedback from veterans.
Introducing a requirement for the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to regularly review and identify disparities in benefit access and recommend corrective actions.
Including representatives from other federal agencies, such as the Department of Housing and Urban Development and the Small Business Administration, in the Advisory Committee to improve support coordination.
